A horse race named after the fighters died in the War of Abkhazia was held in Lanchkhuti Municipality
Major General Koba Kobaladze, Director of the State Service of Veteran Affairs, attended a traditional tournament named after Nika Imnadze, Paata Papidze, Davit Ramishvili and Vazha Todua, the fighters who died in the war of Abkhazia in the village of Ghrmaghele, in Lanchkhuti Municipality.
Within the framework of the tournament, a horse race named after the fighters, a competition in arm wrestling, weightlifting, as well as in Georgian wrestling was held, wherein the female participant took part for the first time in 2022.
Koba Kobaladze and Mayor of Lanchkhuti Municipality, Aleksandre Sarishvili, presented cups, medals and certificates created by the State Service of Veteran Affairs to the winners, while the first, second and third place participants in the horse race were awarded monetary prizes by the City Council of Lanchkhuti Municipality.
The event was also attended by the head of Guria Division of the State Service of Veteran Affairs, Gela Bakanidze, representative of the agency in Lanchkhuti, Elguja Chkhaidze, chairman of Lanchkhuti Municipality Council, Besik Tabidze, head of the Culture, Sports and Youth Center, Paata Urushadze, local veterans, family members and relatives of the deceased fighters.
Koba Kobaladze, side by side with the representatives of the local government and veterans, laid a wreath at the memorial of the deceased warriors, Nika Imnadze, Paata Papidze, Davit Ramishvili and Vazha Todua and once again paid tribute to the memory of the heroes.
The tournament named after the heroes who died in the battles for the territorial integrity of Georgia in Abkhazia was marked on August 19, 1995 and has been held annually since then. This year, the tournament was held for the first time on the dormition of the most holy Theotokos and will be held every year on August 28.
