Turkic States Are Expanding Cooperation
On 15 May 2026, an Informal Summit of the Organization of Turkic States was held in the Kazakh city of Turkestan, known as the spiritual capital of the Turkic world. The Organization is a unique regional platform aimed at expanding trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties among its member states. Today, the members of the OTS are Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye and Uzbekistan.
As one of the founders and driving forces of Turkic integration, Kazakhstan stood at the origins of the establishment of the OTS and has consistently promoted the deepening of political dialogue and the institutional development of the Organization.
Kazakhstan actively advances initiatives aimed at strengthening multilateral cooperation, including the adoption of long-term strategic documents such as the "Turkic World Vision - 2040."
Another important area is the promotion of the "Trans-Altai Dialogue" initiative, put forward by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, during the SCO Summit in Tianjin in 2025. This initiative is aimed at effectively unlocking the potential of the unique Eurasian "Altai" region, which brings together Kazakhstan, Russia, China and Mongolia and possesses significant territorial, demographic and economic resources.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev supports the concept of "Altai as the cradle of Turkic civilization."
At the II International Scientific and Practical Conference "Altai - the Ancestral Homeland of the Turks: On the History of the Origins of Turkic Civilization," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that Altai, long revered as the sacred cradle of the Turkic ethnos, today organically unites Kazakhstan, Russia, China and Mongolia across its vast territories. Accordingly, this dialogue is aimed at effectively harnessing the potential of the Eurasian "Altai" region, which is unique in terms of territory, population and economic capacity. The proposed format is not an alternative to existing mechanisms of cooperation; on the contrary, it is designed to strengthen Eurasian connectivity and organically complement existing integration formats.
Kazakhstan consistently advocates the formation of a modern, open and competitive Turkic space focused on joint progress in technological advancement, digitalization, innovative development and the introduction of artificial intelligence.

In this context, particular importance is attached to the integration of Turkic countries into global economic and technological processes, as well as to the development of human capital, education and scientific cooperation.
Kazakhstan views political interaction within the OTS primarily as a basis for strengthening trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, as well as mutual trust among brotherly Turkic peoples, rather than as an instrument for forming a military-political alliance. At the same time, cooperation in the fields of security and military affairs among OTS member states is carried out mainly on a bilateral basis, taking into account the national interests and foreign policy priorities of each country.
Thus, Kazakhstan consistently contributes to the transformation of the Turkic world into a space of progress, innovation and open international cooperation, moving it beyond an exclusively cultural and historical agenda. Particular attention is paid to technological development, digitalization and the introduction of artificial intelligence, which fully corresponds to the theme of the Informal Summit of the OTS in Turkestan. This approach makes it possible to harmoniously combine the rich historical heritage of the Turkic peoples with modern global trends and the values of an open world.
