
Six HPPs were put into operation in Georgia this year and four more are scheduled to be launched.
According to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, in 2019 six hydropower plants were put into operation with a total capacity of 57.9 MW. These HPPs are: Avani HPP (with a capacity of 3.5 MW), Skurdidi HPP (with a capacity of 1.33 MW), Aragvi 2 HPP (with a capacity of 1.95 MW), Oro HPP (with an installed capacity of 1.12 MW), Mestiachala 1 HPP (with a capacity of 20 MW), Mestiachala 2 (with a capacity of 30 MW).
This year "Chapala" HPP, "Khelra" HPP, "Iphari" HPP and a hydro power plant at Tbilisi Sea are scheduled to be launched, as well. Their total capacity is 7.33 MW.
