Koba Kobaladze met with the representatives of “TAPS Ukraine”

Major General Koba Kobaladze, Director of the State Service of Veterans Affairs, met with Yulia Dimitrova, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Social Policy of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, who is visiting Georgia, and representatives of the non-governmental organization TAPS Ukraine.

 

At the meeting, the guests from Ukraine talked about the projects and activities that are being implemented by the American non-governmental organization TAPS to overcome socio-economic challenges for improvement of the health services of Ukrainian veterans, and for their psycho-rehabilitation and integration into society; the talks also focused on social projects offered to veterans' family members and exclusive education and training programs designed for their children. The parties shared their experiences, talked about deepening cooperation, and discussed ways to plan and implement joint projects for Georgian veterans and their families.


The meeting was also attended by Mikheil Khurtsidze and Natia Janashvili, Heads of Legal Support and Administrative Departments of the State Service of Veterans Affairs.


It is noteworthy that TAPS Ukraine has been a member of the TAPS USA team since 2017. The founder and president of the organization is Mrs. Bonnie Carroll, the wife of American veteran General Tommy Carroll. Mrs. Bonnie Carroll, who accepted Ukraine as the 24th member of her organization, founded the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (“TAPS“) in 1994 to help those who lost breadwinners, who are war veterans as well as their family memberswhoalso carries out various projects, events, and workshopsaround the world.At the initiative of TAPS USA, an online meeting between the children of combatants murdered in the 2008 August war and the children of American veteranswas held on November 6, 2020, with the aim of bringing them closer together.
