Koba Kobaladze offered his condolences to the family of Georgian soldier killed in Ukraine

Major General Koba Kobaladze, Director of the State Service of Veteran Affairs, together with his deputies, employees of the Service and war veterans, expressed his condolences to the family of Georgian soldier Levan Mekashvili, who died in the fight against Russian military aggression in Ukraine, and paid tribute to his memory.

 

38-year-old Levan Mekashvili, born in Gali, Abkhazia, died in an artillery attack in Nikolaev District on November 2. He was a professional fighter; within 2007-2010, he served in the Defense Forces of Georgia - in the artillery division of the Fourth Infantry Brigade of the Ministry of Defense. He was a participant of the War between Russia and Georgia in 2008. Levan Mekashvili left for Ukraine immediately after the commencement of the Russian military aggression. He was transferred to his homeland on November 7. Levan Mekashvili will be buried on November 10 with military honors at Vedzisi Cemetery.

 

Russian military aggression in Ukraine started on February 24, 2022. Dozens of Georgians are fighting alongside the Ukrainians. The very first information about the death of Georgian fighters in Ukraine was spread on March 18. Levan Mekashvili has been the 24th Georgian who died in the fight against the Russian occupation forces in Ukraine after the month of February.
