Koba Kobaladze continues his official visit to Ukraine

Major General Koba Kobaladze, Director of State Department of Veterans Affairs Office, continues his meetings in frames of his official visit to Ukraine.

Professor, Dr. Patrick Zensburg, Chairman of the Committee for the Scrutiny of Elections, Immunity and the Rules of Procedure, and Haroldas Daublis, a member of the Union of Lithuanian Riflemen and Coordinator of the Ukrainian Aid Group, expressed their willingness to meet with Koba Kobaladze. The meeting with the above-mentioned persons was organized by the head of the Ukrainian Veterans NGO “The Movement of Ukrainian Veterans”, Vladimir Laguta, and one of the leaders of the organization, Kirill Sergeyev.

Koba Kobaladze, spoke about the structure and administrative organization of the State Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Georgia at the request of the meeting participants as well as the programs implemented for the beneficiaries of the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, and the challenges which are important to be overcome with the support of partner countries. He shared his working experience with the hosts. The parties discussed the social and economic development practices of veterans in different countries and the effective use of their intellectual potential and experience in state-building. They also addressed all the issues related to the wider integration of veterans in the society. The parties considered promising plans and projects for further cooperation.

Ukrainian Veterans Non-Governmental Organization “The Movement of Ukrainian Veterans” brings together 410 veterans' non-governmental organizations in Ukraine and has 1,200,000 member veterans. The organization closely works and cooperates with the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine to plan and implement projects that primarily serve to improve the socio-economic conditions and post-traumatic conditions of veterans. Owing to the fact that the hostilities against Russia are still continuing in Ukraine, the issue of psycho-physical rehabilitation of war veterans, soldiers and volunteers is particularly topical in the country. In this regard, a number of projects are being implemented with the support of international partners. “The Movement of Ukrainian Veterans” actively cooperates with veterans' organizations in Canada, Germany, the Baltic States, the United States and various European countries.

The meeting was also attended by Vladimir Levchuk, the Deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine, and representatives of non-governmental organizations of Ukrainian veterans. It should be noted that Ukraine was recommended by the United States of America to share the experience of the State Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Georgia while establishing and structuring the Ministry of Veterans Affairs in Ukraine. For this reason, the representative delegation of Georgia visited Ukraine several times while in 2019, the Minister of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine visited Georgia.

Koba Kobaladze’s official visit to Ukraine is being paid by the official invitation of the Minister of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine Julia Laputina. The Director of the State Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Georgia attended the 4th International Forum of Veterans of Ukraine “Ukraine is where we are”, which was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's independence.
